Bridgeland Community, Texas
Bridgeland Community is a 11,401-acre (46.14 km2) master-planned community under construction in unincorporated Harris County, Texas to the northwest of Houston between U.S. Highway 290 and Interstate 10. Bridgeland is being developed by General Growth Properties, whose previous work includes The Woodlands, Texas, Columbia, Maryland, and Summerlin, Nevada.
Bridgeland is planned to house over 70,000 people by completion.[1]
Education
The area of Bridgeland is served by the Cypress Fairbanks, Katy, and Waller school districts.
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD
Based upon attendance zones as of 2008, students in the CFISD portion will attend:
Katy I.S.D.
As of 2011 no homes in Bridgeland are zoned to Katy ISD schools. A portion of Katy I.S.D. Lies within the Bridgeland development.
Waller I.S.D.
As of 2011 no homes in Bridgeland are zoned to zoned to Waller I.S.D. schools; a portion of Waller I.S.D. lies within the Bridgeland development.
Villages
Lakeland Village
Lakeland Village is the first of four "villages" to be built in Bridgeland. The village consists of the following communities and areas:
- First Bend: First Bend is located off North Bridgeland Lake Parkway near the entrance to Bridgeland off Fry Road. First Bend is located in the Lakeland Village of Bridgeland. The first residents of First Bend arrived in May 2007. At its completion it will have 406 homes. The community contains Turtle Lane and Butterfly Garden, a nature trail and small park.
- The Shores: The Shores is located off North Bridgeland Lake Parkway near the entrance to Bridgeland off Fry Road. The Shores is located in the Lakeland Village of Bridgeland. The first residents of The Shores arrived in June 2006. At its completion it will have 571 homes. The community is located across the street from Oak Meadow Park and Cypress Creek Trail. House Hahl Trail also runs through the neighborhood, along the old House Hahl Road easement where the road itself was engulfed by the neighborhood.
- The Cove: The Cove is located off North Bridgeland Lake Parkway, west of The Shores. It will be home to a Cy-Fair ISD elementary school, planned to Open In August 2013. [4] The Cove is located in the Lakeland Village of Bridgeland. The first residents arrived in July 2008. The Cove also features areas that are unique within Bridgeland’s master plan. A central park area offers one of several open play fields, a playground with equipment for tots and older children and a rain garden with butterfly houses. Bordering the park is an extension of the House-Hahl Trail, with several reforestation-planting beds to enhance the area’s landscape. An aromatic garden alongside one of the lakes provides a fragrant respite, with pleasing plantings such as confederate jasmine, upright rosemary and Mexican bush sage. A formal rose garden appeals to the senses, while the lakeside maze garden adds a bit of fun.
- Water Haven: Water Haven is located off North Bridgeland Lake Parkway next to The Cove. Water Haven is located in the Lakeland Village of Bridgeland.
- Hidden Creek: Hidden Creek is planned to be located off Central Bridgeland Parkway near Lakeland Heights. Hidden Creek will be located in the Lakeland Village of Bridgeland.
- Lakeland Heights: Lakeland Heights will be located on Fry Road just south of the main entrance of Bridgeland. The first residents are expected to arrive in late 2008. This community is planned to be a Traditional Development Neighborhood.
- Lakeland Activity Center:
Future, Planned Villages
Parkland Village, Prairieland Village, and Creekland Village are the other of the four villages to be developed in the future.
Also, Bridgeland Town Center will be constructed along the future Grand Parkway. The Town Center will be located in the geographic center of Bridgeland.
